Privacy Policy

WellChina ("we", "our") operates wellchina.top to help foreign patients navigate medical care in China. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what choices you have.

1. What we collect

• Account data (if you sign up): email, hashed password, optional profile fields (full name, age, nationality, phone).
• Contact form submissions: the information you enter — email, procedure interest, message.
• Chat messages: content and metadata of messages exchanged with our support team; translated copies in English/Chinese for staff to read.
• Payment data: when you purchase a service plan, payment details are collected by Stripe. We receive only the transaction ID, amount, and plan; never your card number or CVV.
• Usage analytics: anonymized page views, clicks, search queries, device type, approximate geographic region via Google Analytics 4.
• Performance metrics: Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) via Vercel Speed Insights — no user identifiers, no cookies.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies under four categories, governed by the consent banner you see on first visit:

• Strictly necessary (always on): login session, cookie preference itself, language and region selection, theme (light/dark).
• Analytics (opt-in in the EEA/UK, opt-out elsewhere): Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) for anonymous usage statistics.
• Advertising (same opt-in rule): enables Google Signals for cross-device modeling; not used to show you personalized ads on our site.
• Functionality: UI preferences (theme, compare list stored locally in your browser).

3. Third-party processors

• Supabase — hosting database and authentication. Data is stored in the AWS Asia-Pacific (Tokyo) region.
• Vercel — hosts this website; receives minimal request metadata (IP, user-agent) for routing and security. No analytics identifiers.
• Google Analytics 4 — anonymized traffic analysis; IP addresses are anonymized by Google before storage.
• Stripe — payment processing; their privacy policy applies to card data.
• Resend — transactional email delivery for receipts and contact replies.
• DeepL — translates chat messages between you and our support team.

4. How long we keep your data

• Account and orders: retained as long as your account is active, plus 6 years after closure for financial-record compliance.
• Contact form submissions: 3 years, then archived or deleted.
• Chat conversations: active conversations kept indefinitely. Anonymous sessions are auto-cleaned: 30 days of inactivity closes the conversation; 90 days of inactivity deletes the anonymous user.
• Google Analytics data: 14 months maximum, per our GA4 retention setting.
• Speed Insights data: 30 days (Vercel default).

5. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Withdraw analytics consent at any time via the footer button.
• Object to or restrict processing.
• Port your data to another service.

To exercise any of these, email us at contact@wellchina.top with the subject Data request. We respond within 30 days.

6. International transfers

Your data is primarily stored in Asia (Tokyo). If you access WellChina from the EEA or UK, your data may be transferred to jurisdictions without equivalent protection. We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with our processors to safeguard such transfers.

7. Children

WellChina is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices evolve. Material changes will be announced via banner on wellchina.top and, for logged-in users, by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
