Medical Disclaimer

Last updated: May 8, 2026

Our commitment

We built WellChina to help international patients find better, more affordable medical care in China. Our work is to gather, verify, and present transparent, professional information — hospital data, multi-country pricing, treatment options, and travel logistics — so you can make informed decisions about your care.

We also believe health is the most important thing in your life. That belief shapes how this disclaimer is written: it sets out, plainly, the limits of what we do — and what we will not do — so you can rely on us inside those limits and consult the right professionals beyond them.

This page is the long-form companion to the short medical disclaimer that appears at the bottom of every medical content page on WellChina. The short version is a one-paragraph summary; this page sets out the full terms governing the use of WellChina's platform with respect to medical information.

If anything on this page conflicts with our Editorial Policy or Methodology, the more restrictive interpretation applies.

1. Nature of Service

WellChina ("the Platform"), operated by Shenzhen Hewen Technology Co., Ltd. (深圳赫文科技有限公司), is an independent information and facilitation platform that helps foreign patients research and access healthcare services in China. Our mission is to make affordable, high-quality Chinese healthcare more accessible to international patients who need it, by maintaining transparent, well-researched information across hospitals, procedures, prices, and travel logistics.

Our services may include connecting users with hospitals and their international departments, coordinating appointments, providing language assistance, and offering trip logistics support. We continuously update domestic and international medical price data, monitor developments in medical technology and treatment options, and verify hospital and procedure information against multiple sources.

WellChina is NOT a medical provider, healthcare facility, hospital, clinic, or licensed healthcare professional. We do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, perform medical procedures, guarantee clinical outcomes, or assume medical responsibility for any care you receive from listed hospitals. Where a question goes beyond our professional scope, we will say so plainly rather than offer an opinion.

2. No Medical Advice

The Platform exists to help you understand your options. To do that well, we research, verify, and structure information for you — but we do not cross the line into clinical advice.

Nothing on the Platform — including hospital profiles, procedure descriptions, pricing data, city guides, chat conversations, or user-generated content (such as forum posts or reviews where applicable) — constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The Platform is not a substitute for professional medical consultation. Decisions about your individual care should be made with a qualified physician who has reviewed your medical history and current condition.

3. No Doctor-Patient Relationship

Use of the Platform does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and WellChina, its employees, or its medical reviewers.

4. Reviewer Role

Where content on the Platform has been reviewed by a licensed medical professional (a "Reviewer"), this is indicated by a visible byline showing the Reviewer's name, credentials, and the date of last review. Reviewers verify factual accuracy of medical content but do NOT provide individualized medical advice to Platform users. Content without such a byline has not been Reviewer-signed and is presented for general reference only.

5. Pricing

Pricing transparency is one of the core reasons we exist. Reference prices shown on procedure and hospital pages are continuously compiled, cross-checked, and updated from multiple sources, including past customer transactions, direct hospital quotations, publicly available pricing, and the PRC National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL) and equivalent public price catalogs from other jurisdictions.

All such prices are approximate, subject to change, and ultimately set by hospitals; WellChina does not add a markup to these reference figures. Service plan fees (Starter, Navigator, Concierge) are separately disclosed on the /plans page.

6. Hospital Information

Hospital profiles are compiled from publicly available sources and direct hospital communications as of the "Last reviewed" date shown on each page. WellChina does not endorse, recommend, or vouch for the quality of any listed hospital. Inclusion in the directory does not constitute endorsement under PRC Advertising Law Article 6 or any analogous foreign regulation.

7. Cross-Border Medical Risks

We believe you deserve a clear picture of what cross-border medical travel involves before deciding to undertake it. The risks are real, and worth understanding plainly.

Traveling abroad for medical care involves unique risks not present in domestic care, including but not limited to:

Many international medical travelers consider specialized medical travel insurance, including emergency evacuation coverage, as part of their preparation. Whether and what insurance to purchase is a personal financial decision outside the scope of WellChina's services; we provide this notice for your awareness only and do not offer insurance advice or referrals.

8. No Liability for Medical Outcomes

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WellChina assumes no responsibility for medical outcomes, complications, dissatisfaction, or any other consequences of treatment obtained at any hospital listed on the Platform. Decisions about which provider to engage, which procedure to undergo, and which clinical advice to follow are solely yours and your treating physician's. Nothing in this section purports to exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law (including, in the PRC, liability for personal injury under the Civil Code).

9. User Submissions and Data Protection

Information you submit through forms, chat, or saved preferences is used to facilitate your research and to improve the Platform. WellChina does not represent you clinically and does not act as your medical agent.

We process personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws — including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), the PRC Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), Korea's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP), Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Vietnam's Personal Data Protection Decree, and Russia's Federal Law No. 152-FZ on Personal Data. The full data processing terms — including the data subject rights available to you (such as access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection where applicable) and the cross-border transfer safeguards we apply — are set out on our /privacy page, which is incorporated by reference into this disclaimer.

10. Jurisdiction and Disputes

This disclaimer is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this disclaimer shall be submitted to the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), South China Sub-Commission, for arbitration in accordance with its rules in effect at the time of application. The seat of arbitration shall be Shenzhen, the language of the arbitration shall be English, and the tribunal shall consist of one (1) arbitrator. The award shall be final and binding on both parties.

11. Updates

Material updates to this disclaimer will be flagged on the Platform homepage and via the version history table at the bottom of this page for at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of a material update constitutes acceptance of the updated disclaimer.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WellChina's aggregate liability arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) fees paid by you to WellChina in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law (including, in the PRC, liability for personal injury under the Civil Code).

13. Force Majeure

WellChina is not liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, civil unrest, public health emergencies, government action, sanctions, or third-party network or infrastructure failure.

14. Severability

If any provision of this disclaimer is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

15. Relationship to Terms of Service

This disclaimer is incorporated by reference into the WellChina Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between this disclaimer and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service prevail.

16. Minors

The Platform is not directed to children under sixteen (16) years of age. WellChina does not knowingly collect information from or provide services to minors without verifiable parental or guardian consent. Medical decisions involving minors must be made by a parent or legal guardian in consultation with licensed physicians.
